SCHOOL CHILDREN ENJOY HEALTHY EATING AT HOLLAND HALL HOTEL
Children from St Thomas the Martyr Primary School in Upholland attended a special healthy eating demonstration this week courtesy of Holland Hall Hotel.

The event was hosted and funded by the hotel on Lafford Lane in Upholland with over 80 children from the junior department taking part.
Home economist Donna Knight presented four sessions, one to each year group, where the children discussed healthy eating and then watched the making of three delicious fruit smoothies.

The smoothies emonstrated fun ways to eat fruit and how they can assist children to eat the recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables each day.
The simple recipes produced some colourful results, which the children were invited to taste and then vote for their favourite [sample].

Each year group had their own favourite with years three and six enjoying Raspberry Crush, year four preferring the Mango and Blueberry smoothie and year six voting for the Banana and Oat smoothie.
The simple recipes have been passed on to the school and the children will be encouraged to make these and their own variations on the recipes at home.

This is the first of a number of events planned by the hotel to support local schools as part of their ongoing commitment to supporting the local community.
